About the Role

We are looking for reliable and motivated Weekend Machine Operatives to join our wet pet food manufacturing team at our Llangadog site.

This is a hands-on role working across key areas of the packing operations. You will play an important role in ensuring efficient packing, maintaining high-quality standards, and operating machinery safely.

Shift Pattern

This role operates on a rotating weekend shift pattern:

• One weekend – Night Shifts:
  Friday 10:00pm – Sunday 10:00am
  (2 × 12-hour shifts)

• Following weekend – Day Shifts:
  Saturday 10:00am – Sunday 10:00pm
  (2 × 12-hour shifts)

Shifts rotate weekly between days and nights

Contracted hours: 24 hours worked per week

United Petfood is looking for a motivated and experienced Warehouse Team Leader to join our Packing Operations team at our Llangadog site.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising a team of Machine Operatives across our packing department. You will play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards whilst promoting a positive team culture.

The successful candidate will lead by example, provide day-to-day support to the team, and work closely with Production Management to drive performance, standards, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of Machine Operatives within the packing department.

• Ensure staffing levels are effectively managed to meet production requirements.

• Monitor production performance and ensure daily targets are achieved.

• Oversee the safe operation of packing machinery including Giotto and Autoline packing lines.

• Ensure all products are packed and labelled in accordance with customer and company specifications.

• Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, GMP, hygiene, and housekeeping.

• Conduct start-up checks and monitor production throughout the shift.

• Support the training, development, and onboarding of new team members.

• Manage employee performance and provide coaching where required.

• Investigate and report operational issues, machine faults, and non-conformances.

• Liaise effectively with Quality, Hygiene, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.

• Complete production paperwork accurately and on time.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

• Deputise for Warehouse Supervisors when required.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Operative role within a manufacturing, warehouse, or food production environment.

• Experience supervising and developing teams.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to motivate others and drive performance.

• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

• Basic IT skills and experience completing operational reports.

• Food manufacturing experience is desirable but not essential.

• FLT licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
